Q:  How many times should I email a girl before asking her on a date?

Matt, Dudley

A: Hollywood - That depends.  If you've already emailed her once, did she respond?  If not, don't contact her again or you run the risk the of being construed as creepy.  Trust me, she got your email.  She just doesn't like you.  Sending email after email without a response is a great way of getting blocked.  If she's interested, she'll write you back.  In which case, it's ok to ask her out as soon as you feel comfortable.  The whole idea is to actually meet in person so it shouldn't be considered rude or forward for you to want to take things to the next step.  If she has hang ups about seeing you in person, that should be a red flag right there that somethings not quite right.

A: London - I'm a firm believer in getting to the point pronto. If I was looking for a penpal, I'd write to an inmate as they would have a far more interesting story to tell. The whole point you are on the site is to meet people, so spending weeks emailing back and foward with inane chit chat like "How was your day?" and "Got much planned for the weekend?" is tedious. If you have made contact with each other via a wink or email, a couple more emails should suffice then just cut to the chase and ask her if she would like to meet up. Don't give any firm dates, just let her answer and hopefully she will let you know when she is free. If an email doesn't come back, then she clearly isn't keen and move on. Plenty more fish in the sea my friend....

Q:  If I turn up on a date and the person doesn't look like their profile picture, what should I do?
Janet, Southport

A: Hollywood -  RUN!  Just kidding.  Not really.  Well, sort of.  Ok, really, RUN!

A: London - Its a tricky one. This is why I never have a dinner date first time round. Always best to meet up just for a drink. Its much easier to make your excuses and leave if he/she is not what you expected. If you bought a pair of Jimmy Choo's online and 3 days later your parcel arrived with a Jimy Cho's label , would you send them back? Exactly....

Q:  What should I take a girl to do on the first date? drinks, food, cinema.....etc
Chris, Dublin

A: Hollywood -  Cinemas?  Hell no.  How are you supposed to get to know someone while trying to pay attention to Harry Potter?I'm a fan of the coffee date.  It's simple, cheap and you aren't obligated to spend hours with someone you just met.  If you both get along you can always take things from there.  If you don't, its perfectly acceptable to excuse yourself after a little bit and move on to your next victim.  Meeting for drinks is fine too but I wouldn't do it unless you plan on getting naked.  Which, I'm pretty sure is your main objective so have her meet you for drinks...

A: London - Cinema? How old are you, 12?....My preference is always to meet in a bar, nearer the weekend too. People are generally in a better mood as we head towards friday and if you do fancy each other, you're more likely to prolong the date and perhaps get a bit of action. A dinner date is a big no no with me. The thought of having to sit through an entire meal with someone you have no interest in quite frankly fills me with terror..
